Which work should I do first?
The order depends on the building. Its envelope, moisture, ventilation, systems and use need to be reviewed together. An audit helps rank interventions by technical logic and then check the applicable requirements before a decision is made.
What is involved in preparing an energy audit?
Preparation brings together available plans or information, useful consumption data, previous work and the owner’s objectives. The scope of a regulatory audit must be distinguished from an initial commercial assessment and confirmed before the assignment.

Does exterior cladding require much maintenance?
Maintenance depends on material, finish and exposure. Timber, composite, PVC and fibre-cement do not require the same checks or treatments. The instructions for the selected system determine the actual maintenance frequency.
Can cladding be installed over an existing facade?
It can sometimes be installed on a supporting frame, but the substrate must be checked first. Moisture, stability, fixings, ventilation and junctions around openings may require preparation or make another solution preferable.

How can a leak on a flat roof be detected?
A stain, damp smell or damaged finish indicates a problem but not necessarily its source. The inspection should follow upstands, outlets, junctions and roof layers to connect the symptom to a probable cause.
Must all roof metalwork be replaced with the roof?
Not automatically. Gutters, downpipes, flashings and junctions should be assessed as part of the roofing project. Compatible elements in sound condition can be distinguished from those that would compromise the new waterproofing.

When should a facade be renovated?
Developing cracks, deteriorated joints, detached finishes or persistent moisture marks justify an inspection. The timing and extent of work depend on the cause, substrate and risk of further damage rather than on one fixed schedule.
Is external insulation possible on every facade?
No. The substrate, moisture, property boundaries, opening details and planning rules can limit external insulation. A feasibility assessment should precede the choice of system and finish.

What is the best insulation solution for my home?
There is no universal solution. Building construction, moisture, thermal bridges, ventilation, available space and finishes guide the choice. Several options may need to be compared before a decision is made.
Can thermal insulation also improve acoustics?
Some systems can improve acoustic comfort, but thermal and acoustic performance are not the same. Noise type, transmission paths, mass and continuity of installation need to be assessed separately.

How do I know whether my roof needs replacing?
Leaks, broken elements, deformation or moisture in the roof space require inspection but do not always mean full replacement. Covering, support, insulation, junctions and drainage should be assessed before choosing repair or renovation.
PVC or aluminium for new windows?
Both materials can be suitable depending on dimensions, appearance, target performance, maintenance and budget. Glazing, spacers, seals, ventilation and especially installation quality also contribute to the overall result.
